The first thing I want to know when I land on somebody's Web page is "Who is this guy?"  Figuring that others might want to know the same thing about me, I thought I'd sit down and write that answer here.  If you've ever tried it, you probably found that it's way more difficult than it sounds.  So I gave up.

Like most people, I have varying interests and my own set of eccentricities.  In my "real job" as an e-business consultant, I implement software solutions for clients.  During my non-work hours I spend time with my wife Debra, write books and magazine articles about computer programming, ride my bicycles, brew beer, make compost, tinker with ham radio, work in the yard, play with the pets, and read books.  I even sleep from time to time.

The links at the left will allow you to learn more about me and the things that I do.  If there are any new developments on the site, they'll be listed at the bottom of this page.  My (almost) daily diary is Jim's Random Notes.  Take a look around.  If you have questions or comments, you can contact me by clicking the "Contact" link on the left.
